Thoughts About Flags - Palestine, Israel, USA
An adaptation of a tweet thread by Lucy from Blue Moon Red Wine
If this is your flag, itโs fine.
I identify with this flag.
Knowing that for many people in
it represents imperialism. But Itโs still our flag.
No one controls where theyโre born. Thatโs an accident of fate. No one controls what family theyโre born into.
No one even controls the settler movement theyโre born into.
We might think we are morally superior to Israelis, but who knows what we would have done if swept up in a similar wave of ethno-nationalism. But that was then and this is now and the world is against
now. So, paradoxically, the best way to preserve Israel
is to
PUT DOWN YOUR WEAPONS.
If you are a soldier in the IDF, you need to resign and put down your weapons.
Itโs the only way to avoid a prolonged war and actually preserve the country you grew up in.
You know this.
Do not listen to the foreigners that pretend they have the best in mind for your country. They donโt have to live there full time. If you were actually BORN and raised in Israel and are not a birthright trip visitor, you know what a fragile existence Israel will have if it does not learn peaceful coexistence. You cannot โfightโ forever.
And even if you kill every last Palestinianโฆ The entire world will despise you from this point forward, so your fight will not end.
Your fight will not end with the last Palestinian. Your fight will not even end with the last American. Put down your weapons. You know this has gone too far. Pushing this further, is insane and self destructive. Not even for us, but for you - Israel.
People all around the world are flying the Palestinian flag right now.
Theyโre not flying the American flag, which honestly saddens me, nor the Israeli flag, why? Because both have stopped being global symbols of freedom.
The more you suppress it, the more people raise it
That is what many Americans and Israelis both still donโt understand.
What does the Palestinian flag mean?
It has grown beyond the original meaning of the national flag of historical Palestine and had become a global symbol of aspirational freedom.
You canโt kill that.
And for my fellow Americans in the military:
This is the time to resign.
We cannot keep putting ourselves at risk of terrorism by constantly invading other countries. We need to get out of there and focus on our own country.
We have:
Less access to healthcare than Israelis (they have m4a)
More homeless than Israelis & More problems in general than Israelis.
It is not our job to bail them out of this one.
I hope that one day the American
or the Israeli
flag will be flown worldwide with the same enthusiasm as the Palestinian flag.
But for that we need to become actual fighters for freedom, not arrogant virtue signaling people.
We need to free
and
from the Zionist lobby. And the deep state. And the WEF And the old British empire, which still has a hold on us.
Until then, our flags
will not represent freedom for people around the
This saddens me, because I love
But thatโs the truth.
And if you are
or
and you are angry that people are not raising our flags right now worldwideโฆ
Ask yourselves why. And work to change it. Work to change the meaning of your flag. And if you do so, I guarantee that people will raise your flag, eventually.
But people will not raise the flag when you tell them in an authoritarian manner to be proud to be American
or Israeli.
People will raise their flag when you SHOW them what it is to be
or Israeli.
When they see your courage reflected in your actions.
That is what the Palestinian patriots
are doing. They are leading by example. While the American
& Israel
โpatriotsโ are leading by arrogance, media control, stereotyping of others, & big tech censorship.
What flag do you think the world will follow if this continues?
I am a born-and-bred New Yorker. And I still remember clear as day even though it was 20 years ago the terror that gripped peopleโs faces in the aftermath of 9/11. But we still, the majority of New Yorkers protested AGAINST the war in Iraqโฆ.and now AGAINST Zionism.
Why?
Because weโre the ones that have to continue living here, in the central focal point of terror attacks. We did not listen to war mongerers from the deep state nor the โpatriotsโ from middle America telling us to be more patriotic by invading Iraq. We knew what makes us unsafe.
And if you live in Tel Aviv, you should also know on a deep instinctive level WHO is the bigger threat to your safety and your country.
Do NOT listen to people that warmonger from the safety of their couches and rural & suburban vacation spots.
YOU know what you have to do.
